2004 SSSCE Results Released

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2004 July-August Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) results but has withheld the entire results of candidates from 36 schools pending investigations into irregularities committed during the examinations.

Fifty-two candidates had their entire results cancelled, while 236 had their subject results cancelled for having been involved in various examination irregularities, including bringing in foreign materials such as pieces of paper, notes and textbooks into the examination hall, collusion, impersonation and leakage of examination question papers.

Others also received help from non-candidates such as invigilators, supervisors and teachers.

A release signed by Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, the Senior Public Affairs Officer of WAEC and issued in Accra yesterday said out of a total of 96,668 candidates who registered for examination, 38,718, representing 40 per cent, passed in seven subjects and above.

The release advised candidates to contact their various schools for their results and not the offices of WAEC.
