2,000 Policemen deployed for Dec 31st night services

About 2000 police personnel will be on guard during tonight’s watch night services in Accra.

Several churches will be holding all-night services to cross over into the New Year as well as praise God for guiding them throughout 2014.

“We deploy all our manpower strength, at this period we believe that we need to put out our best of personnel, our best of professionalism to ensure that we cross over successfully,” TV 3 quoted Accra regional police PRO, ASP Afia Tenge.

“About 2,000 personnel would be patrolling communities, churches, every corner to ensure that criminals do not get the opportunity to commit crime.

“We know that during watch night services, some unscrupulous persons try to take advantage of those services to perpetrate crime. Ours is to ensure that people crossover successfully into the New Year,” she added.

ASP Tenge gave the assurance that a similar exercise will be carried out in other parts of the country.

“During the launch of our ‘Father Christmas’ we promised that we would ensure adequate security throughout the country and that is what we are living up to. For the other parts of the country, similar arrangements have been made and the police would ensure that security is assured throughout the country,” the police officer said.
