2 remanded for torturing and robbing Pastor

Two persons who subjected a pastor and his family to severe torture after robbing them at gun point in Teshie appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Macday Ababire a student and Simon Sowah, a mason, were said to have made away with two laptops, valued GH?2,600.00 three ipads costing GH?1,700.00, four assorted mobile phones, valued at GH?1,575.00 and a of GH?1,300.00.

An accomplice by name Dzidor and another are said to be at large.

The accused persons have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.

The court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh remanded them into lawful custody to reappear on November 18.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector P.O.Yeboah told the court that the complainant Pastor Emmanuel Ayisi Mensah is the head pastor of the Church of Pentecost, Teshie District.

On June 27, at about 1:15 am, the complainant was asleep when he suddenly heard banging on his door.

Chief Inspector Yeboah said the complainant realised that his house had been attacked by armed robbers so he screamed for help.

While screaming, one of the robbers pointed a pistol at him through the window and ordered him to stop else he would shoot him.

The prosecutor said when the complainant proceed to his hall and he met three young men, all wearing mask and armed with pistols and matches.

The robbers subjected the complainant, his wife and children to severe torture, ransacked their rooms and made away with the items and the cash.

On August 25, Chief Inspector Yeboah said Macday and Simon were arrested by the Police and during interrogation they indicated that they had robbed the complainant.

Prosecution said the accused persons led the Police to the complainant’s house and mentioned that they were there with one Dzidor and another now at large.
