2 NPP executives die in auto crash

Two polling station executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Lower West Akyem District of the Eastern Region have been confirmed dead after being involved in an auto crash.

One other person who was involved is said to be in critical condition and responding to treatment at the Asamankese Hospital.

According to Nyarko Abronoma of Koforidua-based Bryt Fm, the unfortunate incident occurred at Topease near Asamankese on Sunday night.

He disclosed that Kofi Yesu and Salifu Gonja died on the spot while the vice constituency chairman, Joseph Ameyaw sustained severe injuries after their vehicle in which they were traveling, collided head-on with a H100 Hyundai van.

The executives had gone to mourn with the family of their late constituency women’s Organiser and the MCE for the area but were unfortunately involved in the accident.

The remains of the deceased persons have been deposited at the Asamankesi government hospital.
