1st change of guard under Akufo-Addo held

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday 27 March inspected and supervised the 22nd ceremonial change of guard at the forecourt of the Flagstaff House.

The presidential guard change is similar to the guard changing ceremony at the Buckingham Palace in the UK instituted on May 5, 2013. It is conducted with 20 each of new and old guards from different services.

Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia witnessed the event as the Ghana Air Force handed over to the Ghana Army.

Also in attendance to witness the ceremony were 400 schoolchildren and their teachers drawn from Ghana International School, Faith Community Baptism Complex, and participants of the Ghana National Spelling Bee.

The gymnastic display at the event was conducted by the Ghana Army.
