19 SHS in Northern Region get buses, pick-ups

Tamale (N/R), Mar 3, GNA – Mr Moses Bukari Mabengba, Northern Regional Minister, has presented 13 (31 seater) buses and six pick-ups to 19 Senior High Schools (SHS) in the region to ease their transportation problems. The Minister, who handed over the keys of the vehicles to Mrs Elizabet= h de-Souza, Regional Director of Education, in Tamale on Thursday, said the facility, amongst others, was to augment the fleet of vehicles of the beneficiary schools to ensure efficient and effective running of education in the region.

He said the presentation was also in-line with government’s objectiv= e to invest in the people by strengthening the educational system to produce qualified manpower for socio-economic development. He assured other SHS’s without vehicles in the region that his offic= e would work to ensure that acquire the facility in due course. He called on heads and drivers of the beneficiary schools to take good care of the facility. Mrs de-Souza promised on behalf of beneficiary schools to take good care of the vehicles.

She also handed over the keys to Alhaji Tahiru Abdul-Rahaman Mahama, Northern Regional Chairman of Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and Headmaster of Tamale Senior High School, for onward presentation to beneficiary schools. The beneficiary schools in the bus category include; Bole, Karaga, Kpandai, Tuna, Gushegu, Savelugu, Walewale, Wulugu, Zabzugu, Tatale E.P Agric, Kumbungu, Ndewura Jakpa and ST. Charles’ Seminary SHS. The pick-up category include Tamale, Kalpohin, Tamale Islamic, T.I. Ahmadiyya, Nalerigu SHS and Chereponi SHS/Technical Institute.
