110 NDC members defect to NPP

Ejura (Ash), Oct 6, GNA- One hundred and ten (110) members of the National Democratic congress (NDC), in the Ejura-Sekyedumasi Constituency, have defected to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). Mr. Osei Assibey, the Ashanti Regional first Vice-Chairman of the NPP, introduced the defectors at a fund-raising ceremony of the Party, at Ejura.

The event was also used to formally introduce Mr. Richard Ofori Dwamena, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Constituency. Mr. Assibey said the defectors were justified to join the NPP since the NDC had nothing better to offer them.

He said the NDC left the country with “a legacy of poverty, misery and insecurity”.

Mr. Assibey entreated Ghanaians not to vote for the main opposition Party since that would impose suffering and poverty on the country.

“The NDC is bankrupt of ideas and has no proper vision to salvage the country from its doldrums because if they had a better vision, they should have been able to salvage the country from its woes for the past eight years they were in power”, he added.

Mr Matthew Nimako, Spokesman for the defectors and also the Assemblyman for Kaase, said they abandoned the NDC because they had no confidence in the ability of the Party to implement its electioneering pledges.

Mr. Samuel N. Abagnah, the Constituency chairman of the NPP, asked Party members to sacrifice time and energy to embark on house-to-house electoral campaigns.

Mr. Dwamena, announced plans to woo investors from Germany to establish agro-processing industries in the Constituency, if he is elected as the Member of Parliament.
