100 Liberian refugees to be repatriated on Friday

Accra, Sept. 29, GNA- Hundred (100) Liberian refugees would be repatriated voluntarily from Ghana on Friday October 1. They would form the first batch of refugees from the Buduburam Refugee Settlement in the Central Region, to be repatriated as part of the Tripartite Agreement signed in Accra by stakeholders.

A statement issued by Needa Jehu-Hoyah, Public Information Officer, of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Wednesday said the refugees would travel on a Charter Flight from the Accra Kotoka International Airport.

The UNHCR and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) are facilitating the process.

The Minister of the Interior, Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, other senior government officials and representatives of the UNHCR and IOM would organise a pre-departure press conference at 1100 hours.
