Zoomlion to establish Waste Management Institute

Bolgatanga, June 11, GNA – Zoomlion will establish a waste management university next year to undertake fulltime courses in waste management, sanitation and hygiene.

The company is putting in place structures to kick start the university that would have campuses in Accra and Tamale. The Public Relations Officer of Zoomlion, Mr. Oscar Provencal, told journalists that the university would be first of its type in Africa and is expected to serve the sub-region and other African countries. Mr. Provencal said the university would start admitting students by the middle of next year and would collaborate with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the University of Cape Coast, the University of Ghana and the Ontario University.

He said Zoomlion’s agenda was to help keep Ghana clean by adopting workable strategies through partnership with stakeholders. Mr. Solomon Agyemang Duah, a communications officer at the company’s headquarters in Accra, said the company had introduced new products including going into mechanized farming. He said the company had made it a policy to cultivate at least 50 acres of land in each district and that it would go into large scale yam cultivation in the Northern Region next year.
