Zoomlion sensitizes Dorimon community on good environmental sanitation

Mr. Emmanuel Volsuuri, Upper West Regional Manager of Zoomlion, has said the company’s effort to ensure good sanitation would not end until individual Ghanaians understood the reason why both personal hygiene and environmental sanitation must be a matter of concern to them.

He said the company would continue to engage traditional rulers and their people in educational campaigns towards achieving a filth free environment.

Mr. Volsuuri said this during a community-based environmental durbar organised by Zoomlion at Dorimon.

He commended the government for providing 10 sanitation trucks and some waste containers to help Zoomlion to manage waste in the region.

Mr. Paul Mornah, an Environmental Health Officer, appealed to the people to practice good environmental sanitation by keeping their surroundings clean.

He said the government was pumping so much money into the health sector and a chunk of the money was being spent on sanitation related diseases.

Naa Abudu Alhassan, the Chief of Maasi, who chaired the durbar commended Zoomlion for their commitment to improving sanitation not only in the regional capitals but also in the rural communities.

He said the indiscriminate disposal of plastic waste had become a major sanitation problem in the region and appealed to the company to establish a recycling plant to address the problem.

Mr. Solomon Agyemang Duah, Zoomlion Communications Officer at the Head Office, said the Upper West Region was the eighth region to have held the durbar and appealed to the community members to carry the message across to others.**
