Zoomlion scores full marks

Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the leading private waste management company once again rose to the occassion and kept Sunyani clean before, during and after the historic NDC delegates congress at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

The volume of waste generated during the period the NDC stormed Sunyani was so huge that but for the professionalism of Zoomlion, residents of Sunyani, the cleanest town in the country, would have been swallowed by filth.

Zoomlion deployed over 200 staff to manage waste throughout the congress which re-elected president Mills as the party’s flagbearer for the 2012 presidential elections.

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Manager of Zoomlion, Mr. Kofi Sekyere Boateng, told Space FM’s Francis Owusu-Ansah that the output of the company at the congress was as a result of staff commitment, adequate preparation and effective strategies.

“The performance of Zoomlion was as a result of staff commitment, good preparations and the effective strategies we put in place”, he said.

Mr. Sekyere Boateng pointed out that before the congress, the company in collaboration with the Sunyani Municipal Assembly and the Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council organized a cleanup exercise and deployed sanitation guards at vantage points in the town.

“Before the congress, Zoomlion partnered the regional coordinating council and the Sunyani municipal assembly and cleaned up Sunyani”, he said and added that “sanitation guards were also positioned at strategic points in the city to enforce the dropping of refuse in the waste bins the company provided”.

The guards were specifically instructed to prevail on residents to avoid littering the town and rather drop all waste in bins provided.

The company made available huge waste bins throughout Sunyani, especially around the coronation park to make their work easier.

Mr. Sekyere Boateng noted that the refuse dump in front of the Sunyani coronation park was cleared. He said the municipal assembly has put in place measures to ensure that residents around the coronation park do not dump refuse at the site again. Each house hold has been asked to collect a waste bin from the assembly.
