Zoomlion intervenes to control rat menace in Ada Kasseh market

Patrons of Ada Kasseh market in the Ada East District can now have a sigh of relief after Zoomlion in partnership with the Ada East District Assembly intervened to control the rat menace that have been tormenting market women for some time now.

The exercise witnessed staff of the vector control unit of Zoomlion engaging in a mice baiting exercise across strategic locations around the market to trap and arrest the mice.

The vector control officer of Zoomlion in the Tema Zonal office, Mr. Enoch Mintah who led the team to undertake the exercise in an interview indicated that the company in partnership with the assembly had to intervene because the mice menace is destroying food stuffs of the sellers which is causing economic loss to them.

Mr. Mintah also pointed out that, the mice eating of foodstuffs that are sold to patrons of the market can cause diseases such as plague fever, hence Zoomlion whose commitment is geared towards ensuring healthy communities decided to step in to avert any health threat this mice menace might pose to residents of Ada.

The Environmental Health officer of the Ada East District, Mr. Frank Opoku Abima who expressed his delight towards the exercise revealed that his outfit has received several complaints about the economic loss that this mice menace is causing to traders and that the exercise brings a huge relief.

He added that the exercise being undertaken by the assembly in collaboration with Zoomlion brings a huge relief to patrons of the Ada kasseh market.

He added that the assembly in collaboration with Zoomlion will continue with the de-rating exercise on regular basis to boost economic activities of the traders.

Some who traders of the Market also expressed their excitement to the Assembly and Zoomlion for coming to their aid.

They appealed to the Assembly to undertake the exercise on regular basis to help salvage their foodstuffs from being destroyed by the mice.
