Zongos in Ghana cry for potable water and scholarship

The Minister for the Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Boniface Abubakar Saddique has indicated that the utmost priority of the Zongos in the country is the provision of potable water and education.

He made this known while addressing the media in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua.

According to him, his trip to six out of the ten regions in the country has revealed that the major worry of the various zongo communities has to do with the provision of potable water and support for their education.

He indicated that in the Northern sector, their utmost priority is to get potable drinking water whiles in the Southern part of country, their major priority is educational support for the Muslim children.

He indicated that government is committed to ensuring that the various zongos in the country are given a major facelift.

Hon. Boniface Abubakar Saddique was in the Eastern region as part of the nationwide stakeholders consultation which is to enable the ministry collate inputs of the Zongo communities in drafting a legal framework to back the Zongo Development Fund utilization.
