Zongo Caucus of NDC commend KNUST Vice-Chancellor

Kumasi, Oct. 26, GNA – The Ashanti Regional branch of the Zongo Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has commended the initiative of Professor Kwesi Andam, Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), for the concession given to students of less-endowed schools in terms of admission to the university.

The Caucus said the initiative was a prudent step, which deserves commendation not only from the Government but also by all organizations and individuals.

The commendation was contained in a message by the regional branch of the caucus and issued in Kumasi on Wednesday.

Alhaji Othman Yahya, Chairman of the caucus and Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Alhassan, Secretary, jointly signed the message.

It said this bold initiative should not be limited to the KNUST Vice-Chancellor alone, but should be emulated by all tertiary institutions to bring higher education to the doorsteps of deprived areas.

The caucus entreated the Vice-Chancellor to ignore any criticisms and strive to increase the number of admissions under such concession from the very deprived schools.

The message said it was gratifying to note that those admitted under the concession from deprived schools proved the Vice-Chancellor right by performing excellently in the academic pursuits given them at the university.

The caucus stressed the need for beneficiaries of the concession to give credit to the Vice-Chancellor by not only performing creditably like those from the endowed schools, but by also living morally upright lives on campus and after completion of their courses.
