Zongo Caucus advises Zongo youth

Kumasi, Sept. 11, GNA – The Ashanti regional branch of the NDC Zongo Caucus has advised the youth in Muslim communities not to allow themselves to be used by politicians for any negative activity during the electioneering campaigns.

It said negative tendencies such as violence and intimidation as well as ballot box snatching during elections by some Muslim youth who were hired by politicians, had created a bad image for the youth in Zongo communities and it was time such people restrained themselves from such acts. In a statement jointly signed by Alhaji Alhassan Ibn Ibrahim, Regional Secretary and Alhaji Othman Yahya, Regional Co-ordinator and issued in Kumasi on Wednesday, the caucus also appealed to political parties to eschew personal attacks, character assassination and violence on political platforms. The statement congratulated Muslims in Ghana on the Holy month of Ramadan and called on them to use the occasion to pray incessantly to Allah for a blissful co-existence, peace in the three northern regions, free and fair general elections as well as the general well-being of Ghanaians.
