Zanetor Rawlings grabs voters’ ID card

The NDC parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle Dr. Zanetor Rawlings has registered in the ongoing limited registration exercise, StarrFMonline.com can confirm.

The beleaguered candidate registered at the Nyaniba polling station at Ridge Thursday morning.

The incumbent Member of Parliament for the area Nii Armah Ashitey has sued Dr. Rawlings praying the court to declare her election null and void since she was not a registered voter in the constituency as of the time she contested the primaries of the ruling party.

His claims were supported by the electoral commission who confirmed that the daughter of former President Rawlings was not a registered voter their roll.

The matter is currently before the supreme court.

It is unclear if the current turn of events will affect the ongoing trial.

The former Greater Accra regional minister had earlier said “I don’t think going to register when the Electoral Commission opens the register will cure the fault; it will not cure the fault. Our own rules say that no member of the party shall be suitable to contest a primary if that is not a registered voter”.
