Youth urged to co-exist peacefully

Bawku (U/E), July 31, GNA – Deputy Coordinating Director of the Bawku Municipality Assembly, Mr. Alhassan Fuseini, has called on the youth to be committed to peace and stability in the area to enable it to attract the needed investment for development.

He said for peace and stability to be sustained, they must at all times exhibit a high sense of tolerance of others’ views. Mr Fuseini said this at a day’s forum that discussed the repercussion of conflicts on social development, organised by the Bawku Literary Society (BLS) at the weekend at Bawku. He referred to the various conflicts reported in the area and asked the youth to put them behind and learn to build bridges of reconciliation and true forgiveness in order to forge ahead. Mr. Fuseini said the amount of resources being used to maintain peace and security of the area could have been channelled into other development projects to facilitate socio-economic development that would eliminate poverty and sufferings of the people.

The Bawku Divisional Commander, Mr Nenyi Kweku Baidoo, also called on the youth of the area to learn from the devastations caused by conflicts in neighbouring countries and always avoid issues that could degenerate into such troubles.
