Youth steals grandfather’s gun for armed robbery

Kumasi, May 27, GNA – An 18 year-old boy who stole his grandfather’s gun for a car robbery expedition with his two friends has been remanded by a Kumasi circuit court.

Two of the accused persons, Maxwell Gyasi, 18, and Kyei Baffour Frimpong 22, have pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery and conspiracy to rob whiles the third accused person, known as Musah, is on the run.

Their pleas were however not taken and will re-appear on June 09. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kusi told the court that on May 07 the accused persons robbed a taxicab at gunpoint, removed the car tape and abandoned it in Takoradi.

Three days later, they attacked another taxi driver at gunpoint and collected his daily of 400,000 cedis.

The accused persons were arrested and Gyasi admitted stealing his grandfather’s gun for the robbery. 27 May 05
