Youth of Bukere And Soe in cutlass war

Bolgatanga, Jan 16, GNA – A 28-year-old woman died when the youth of Bukere and Soe sections of the Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper East Region engaged in a fight on Sunday.

Nine persons also sustained injuries during the brawl and several houses in Bukere were burnt down.

The youth used bows and arrows, cutlasses and other traditional weapons in the fight that lasted almost three hours and it took armed police and military personnel to bring the situation under control. When Ghana News Agency contacted the police and the hospital authorities they confirmed the casualty figures and police said investigations are underway to unravel the cause of the fight. However, some residents of the two warring sections interviewed by the GNA attributed the cause to a quarrel that broke out between the youth of Bukere and Soe over a game of playing cards last year. Military and police personnel are patrolling the two areas to ensure that no more attacks are carried out.
