Youth of Bawku West demonstrate

Zebilla (U/E), Nov. 18, GNA – A group of young people calling itself “Concerned Youth of Bawku West” and believed to be members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has demonstrated against the Bawku West District Assembly for alleged misappropriation of funds and unlawful transfer of public servants from the district.

Mr Matthias Mbaah, the spokesperson of the group who read and presented a statement to the District Assembly, said the Town and Area Council secretaries whose appointments were based on the Local Government Act were dismissed and others were unlawfully transferred earlier this year. Mr Mbaah alleged that the District Chief Executive, Mr Adam Moro Anaaba, asked the secretaries to vacate their post and to proceed on leave without giving any reason.

He claimed Mr Anaaba said since they were appointed during the previous administration and were sympathizers of that government he could not work with them.

Mr Mbaah alleged that the DCE also dismissed some Zoomlion workers who were employed during the previous administration. The statement appealed to President John Atta Mills to caution the DCE and reinstate the said transferred and sacked officers. Mr Anaaba commended the youth for their maturity and recognizing the constitution of the land and said he would channel their grievances to the President.

He appealed to parents to educate their children with the right social morals and not to educate them on negative politics that could jeopardize their future.
