Youth in South Sissala commend Vodafone for “Icons Mixed Edition”

The youth in the South Sissala area of the Wa East District have commended the management of Vodafone for organising “Vodafone Icons Mixed Edition” to unearth talents among the youth in music.

In a congratulatory message to Miss Noella Wiyaala and her group members comprising Miss Emma Orleans-Lindsay and Mr. Noble Nii Nortey of the Black n Peach, winners of the competition, the youth noted that talents abound among the youth in the rural communities but lack of exposure was a bane to their success.

The youth appealed to the “Black n Peach” group to stay together and work harder to achieve more laurels for themselves and Ghana.

Mr. Timothy N-benaba, President of the South Sissala Youth and Development Association, appealed to Vodafone and other organisations to show more interest in organising such forums to unearth more talents.

He said they were happy that Miss Wiyaala, who hails from Funsi, the district capital of the Wa East, was among the wining group, but the people in the area had no access to Vodafone services so they could not call into the forum to wish the group well.

He said only MTN was available in some parts, leaving many communities including those in West Mamprusi and West Gonja that share borders with the district not covered.

“Some people have to climb tall trees and high mounts as well as story buildings to make phone calls,” he said. “Others have identified some locations and have to travel long distances to those spots to make phone calls.”

He said people even fall in their attempt to climb trees to make calls and appealed to telecommunication networks to consider extending their coverage to the area**
