Youth in Bolgatanga up in arms against local authorities

Youth of Sirigu in the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region have blocked roads, protesting the dumping of waste at the main land fill site in the municipality.

The protesters stopped vehicles of the Assembly from passing, our sources say. They burned tyres in registering their displeasure, the sources added.

The youth are said to be also angry with the Municipal Chief Executive for changing the project site of an ultra modern regional hospital.

On Thursday, they prevented the MCE from coming into the community until the project is brought back from Winkongo in the Talensi District.

This comes days after youth in Ashaiman, a suburb of Accra, in a similar fashion protested delay in completion of the twon’s road network.
