Youth Development programme rounds up

Accra, April 1, GNA – The British Council in Ghana has rounded up its youth development programme, dubbed “Dreams and Teams” for the year 2003 and 2004. The final programme was held at the Maamobi Community Park with a sports festival, which featured 300 pupils from 12 basic schools in the Nima/Maamobi community.

The children were trained by 52 young leaders in the Youth Leadership Programme and were taken through sporting disciplines such as Football, Handball and “Ampe” and taught basic techniques in these games. Mr Andy Battomer, Co-ordinator of the programme told the GNA Sports that the event was to climax their activities of the year that has ensured their training of children in three communities of Ashiedu Keteke, Nima and Maamobi in leadership Skills.

He said about 1000 young people have taken part in the programme whilst 20 of them have been linked with a school in United Kingdom, adding that a grand total of 82 young leaders have also been trained.
