Youth Development Foundation undertakes clean-up exercise

Kumasi, Oct 1, GNA – Members of the Youth Development Foundation (YDF) in collaboration with the Defence for Children International, both Non-Governmental Organisations in Kumasi on Wednesday undertook a clean-up exercise at the Kumasi Airport. The members, who came from Buokrom and Asawase in Kumasi, desilted gutters, swept and weeded some bushes around the Airport. Speaking to newsmen after the exercise, Mr Prince Ohene-Koranteng, Communications Director for the organisations, said the exercise was part of their contribution to promote tourism and good sanitation in the area.

“We decided to embark on this exercise to give a better image for the Airport in the Kumasi metropolis which was described in the past as the Garden City of West Africa”. He stressed that the two organisations had plans to help the communities in the area to improve on their sanitary conditions to prevent breeding of mosquitoes. Mr Osei Seidu, Manager of the Airport, expressed his appreciation to the organisations for their concern to maintain good sanitation in the Airport and said it should not be a nine-day wonder.
