Youth Day: You’re never too young to lead – Kofi Annan

Former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, has told the world’s youth that they are “never too young to lead”.

In his ‘Kofi Annan Dialogues’ monitored by StarrFMonline.com on Tuesday to mark International Youth Day, Annan told the world’s youth, “Your generation has the power to create change”.

He urged the world to bear in mind that “young people are a vital part of civil society”.

“Yet they are often overlooked in national and international discussions and decision-making”, the renowned Ghanaian diplomat bemoaned.

In May 2013, the Foundation launched the Kofi Annan Dialogues to empower and encourage youth around the world.

The dialogues provide space to share and capture experiences, amplify the voices of youth, highlight their achievements, and promote a new form of inclusive dialogue.

Annan’s native Ghana is using the Day to launch a Gh¢10 million ($2.6m) Youth Enterprise Support (YES) Fund to help young entrepreneurs to translate their “brilliant” business ideas into reality, so as to become job creators rather than job seekers.
