Youth clash with security men at Zabzugu

Tamale (Northern Region) 16 Dec. ’99 – A clash between security personnel and rioting youth at Zabzugu in the Northern Region has left a number of people injured. The clash followed the intervention of the security personnel in an on-going dispute between a section of the youth and the District Chief Executive, Alhaji Shamrock A. Mahama whom the malcontents prevented from returning to his post after being away on official duty at Tamale. Alhaji Mahama was escorted back to Zabzugu by the security men on Monday. A press release in Tamale on Wednesday signed by the regional minister, Mr. Joshua Alabi did not specify the number of people injured.
