Youth association inaugurates virgin club

Bekwai (Ash), July 8, GNA- The Bekwai Youth Association in the Amansie East district of Ashanti has inaugurated virgin clubs in four second-cycle institutions in the district.

The institutions are the Bekwai SDA Secondary School, Wesley High School also at Bekwai, Women’s Vocational Institute and Denyaseman Secondary/Technical School at Poano.

Mr Ofosu Agyin, President of the association and deputy National Co-ordinator of the National Service Scheme, said it was the aim of the association to bring development to the district.

He said, however that, the development of the district could not be achieved if the youth who constituted more than 70 per cent of the population were not protected from contracting HIV/AIDS.

Mr Agyin said the association deemed it fit to protect the youth from contracting the disease by forming the virgin clubs which would sensitise the youth about the dangers in the disease.
