Youth appeal for the rehabilitation of Koforidua-Mamfe highway

The youth of Kwamoso have appealed to the Ghana Highways Authority to patch up potholes on the Koforidua –Mamfe highway to help save lives.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Kwamoso on Thursday the group led by Mr Costive Awusa said the potholes on the highway had made it dangerous for drivers who ply the road.

He said pedestrians sometimes had to jump into the bush to avoid being knocked down by vehicles that swerved off the road to avoid the potholes. Sometimes drivers, unaware of the poor nature of the road, ran their vehicles into the potholes and lose control.

Mr Awusa appealed to the authorities not to wait till people are killed before taking action and that the youth are prepared to constitute themselves into “youth in road maintenance” if given support and training to help maintain the road.
