Youth Alliance For Development To Engage Parliamentary Aspirants

14th October, 2012

The Youth Alliance for Development as parts of its activities towards the 2012 general elections will engage Parliamentary Aspirants on their agenda for young people in the Country when given the nod to represent the people in Parliament. The discussion will basically be centered on the implementation of the national youth policy, employment creation policies, health and education. It is expected that all aspirants in the New Edubiase, Obuasi East and Obuasi West constituencies will take part in this all important engagement. The engagement starts this month in the New Edubiase constituency and already the NPP, NDC, PPP and an independent candidate have all confirmed their participation in the event. The motive for the programme is to create a platform for the youth who constitute majority of the voters to assess the aspirants and vote for a competent candidate who will champion the course of youth development even at the national level. The youth must be enthused by politicians who have the capability of bringing development to their door step. It is also to erase the impression that candidates must always be voted on partisan lane. This election should not be characterized by chauvinism, fanatic and ethnocentrism but rather issue based to get more competent people in parliament.
In addition an outreach programme to sensitise the youth on the need for peace in the general elections has also begun. Several youth groups and schools will be visited in this peace campaign mission. The youth must not be used as an instrument of violence by some politicians to satisfy their whims. We therefore call on all Politicians to desist from any act of violence that will push our country into conflict. The security agencies must deliver without fear and favour to ensure our security during and after the elections.

Youth Alliance is registered under the companies code 1963 (Act, 179).
