You need a bulldozer to uproot me from office – Nunoo-Mensah replies critics

Former National Security Adviser, Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah (retired), has told critics his new role as head of Human Security Unit of the National Security Secretariat cannot amount to a demotion.

The ex-soldier insisted angrily that “enemy” would require a bulldozer to uproot him from office not “mere words”.

Brigadier general Nunoo-Mensah vented his spleen on Radio Gold in Accra, when he was reacting to speculations that his infamous comment that public workers who are not content with their working conditions could travel abroad to seek greener pastures, accounted for his redeployment.

“Those saying I have been demoted are just blowing hot air, these assertions are just empty talks in my candid opinion,” the veteran military officer affirmed.

He said his track record over the years is glaring for everyone to see hence the decision by the president to reassign him.

“President Mahama knows am competent and capable of delivering and that is why he has offered me another opportunity to serve my people,” Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah added.

He explained that his office was created with the aim of strengthening the country’s security and not “job for the boys” as being speculated in the media.

“I repeat I have not been demoted and those who think I will be out of public service very soon should re-think because I am going to be around for a very long time by God’s grace… Ghanaians will seem me and I am going to work hard for my people,” Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah said.

Against that backdrop, he brushed aside reports that as a result of his new role, he was now answerable to the National Security Coordinator, Col. Larry Gbevelo-Lartey.
