You can use the Pedestrian Shopping Mall – AMA

Accra, Jan. 24, GNA – Mr Abature Ali Baba, Special Assistant to the Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive on Wednesday ordered all those who had received their identification cards to start business at the new Pedestrian Shopping Mall at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle. He said it was not true that the Mall had to be commissioned by the President before business started.

Mr Baba told the Ghana News Agency in Accra that Management did not even understand why the place was not being patronized. Mr Baba said the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) had made arrangements with contractors to provide containers to keep the traders’ wares after the close of day.

“We have even gone the extra mile by providing security officers to ensure safety and order there,” he said.

Touching on the heap of refuse on some streets in the Metropolis, Mr Baba said AMA had hired tractors to facilitate its clearing before Thursday, January 25.

He said the public needed to cooperate with the Assembly to rid the national capital of filth to improve on sanitation and help prevent communicable diseases like cholera and malaria.

Mr Baba called for attitudinal change towards the upkeep of the environment saying in spite of its cash flow problem, the Assembly was doing everything possible to ensure the environment was kept clean during the country’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. 24 Jan. 07
