You can jubilate in your white apparels – NPP tells youth

The National Youth Organizer of the oposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) Sammy Awuku has said the party will guard against any attempt by the ruling party to overturn the interest of the youth in Wednesday’s polls.

Awuku told a Press conference in Accra the party is disappointed in the delayed tactics of the Electoral Commission(EC) to withhold the outcome of the crucial polls held 24hrs ago.

According to him, 15hrs after the election results were taking shape in many parts of the country, it was critical for the Election Management Body(EMB) to declare results of the elections.

He insisted at this point in time, the youth of the country who risked their lives in travelling long distance into the nooks and cranny of the country to exercise their franchise have every right to jubilate over the outcome of the December 7 polls.

“…We believe the EC has a responsibility to help foster the peaceful co-existence that we have in our country. Elections as the NDC have always said should not be a do or die affair. To the youth of our country, you have made our nation, generation proud. Whiles we wait on the EC in the next few hours to restore sanity in the process, we believe you deserve and have every right to put on your white garment because you have stood up for this country.”
