Yonkers Ghana man dies after crash

YONKERS, NY USA — A 50-year-old Yonkers man died Saturday morning after his car slammed into the base of a bridge off the Cross County Parkway near Interstate 87, police said.

Alfred Adunah crashed into the Seminary Road bridge support about 9:15 a.m.

Adunah was in cardiac arrest when police arrived, and he was later pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, where his wife and other relatives were gathered in the afternoon.

“We’re not sure if the cardiac arrest was the cause of the accident, or the result of the accident,” Westchester County police Lt. Gerald Steckmeister said.

County and Yonkers police responded along with Yonkers firefighters, who extricated Adunah from his Honda Civic.

The local lanes of the road were closed until 1 p.m. for the accident investigation.
