Nene Joshuah Mawumunyu, Dade Mantse of Yonguase, has called on the Lower Manya Municipal Assembly to extend development projects to the area.
He said the community lacked many development projects such as portable water and good roads.
Nene Mawumunyu, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the borehole which serves the whole community is in a deplorable state, noting that the metals used in constructing the borehole is rusted and has affected the water quality.
“There are no schools in this town and children have to walk over five miles to a nearby village to get education,” he said.
Nene Mawumunyu said the nearest clinic serving the community is about 13 kilometers away, making it difficult for people in the community to access quality healthcare.
He said GHACEM, a cement manufacturing company, had plans to establish a quarry in the area but expressed fears that the blasting of rocks could collapse their buildings.
Nene Mawumunyu called on the Assembly to intervene in the cement and quarrying project to protect the interest of the community.
The Yonguase community has a population of 300 inhabitants and produces crops like plantain, cassava and tomatoes.
