Yankey laid to rest

Apataim (Western Region) 27 Jan. ’99

Burial took place at Apataim in the Nzema East District at the weekend of Mr Ambrose Yankey Snr, Personal Assistant and Chief Security Adviser to Dr Kwame Nkrumah. Mr Yankey who died on November 29 last year in Sekondi was 90. In a tribute, Mr Seidu Adamu, Deputy Western Regional Minister described him as an honest man who remained loyal to Dr Nkrumah despite his overthrow in 1966. A wreath was laid on behalf of President Jerry Rawlings by Mr Adamu. Other wreaths were laid by security officers of Dr Nkrumah, the Western regional Branch of the Convention Party and Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly. Mr Yankey left behind a wife, 17 children, 42 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
