Yankah Commission’s Multi-Billion Herbal Reserach Centre

Gomoa Buduatta (C/R), July 11, – The Central Regional Minister, Mr Kojo Yankah, has cut the sod for work to begin on the construction of an estimated five billion cedi multi-purpose building proj The centre will also research into the potency of herbal cure for the aids disease. It is expected to serve as a teaching and specialist hospital and will be the first of its kind in Africa. Speaking at the function, Mr Yankah underscored the potentials of plant medicine and its importance for enhancing quality health care delivery in the country. He decried the indiscriminate felling of trees which, he said, is resulting in the destruction of many potential herbs and called for the passing of bye-laws to stem this practice to save herbal He commended the initiators of the centre and expr essed the hope that those who have promised to assist in its implementation will honour their promise. He also commended the Omanhene of Gomoa Assin traditional area, Okokotan Ahunako Acquah the first, for providing land for the project.
