Yamoah Ponko joins race for NDC parliamentary ticket

Immediate past Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu-Juaben, Mr. Kwaku Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, has joined the race for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary ticket for the Ejisu Constituency.

He is in the contest with two others, Madam Gloria Huze, Deputy Ashanti Regional Women’s Organizer of the ruling party, and Mr. Sampson Kwame Ohene Darko.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after he had filed his nomination, Mr. Yamoah Ponko, said he was the best candidate for the party and appealed to the delegates to vote for him.

He pledged to wrest the parliamentary seat, which has been held by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) since 1996 if endorsed by the party.

He invited his other contestants to ensure clean and decent campaign, saying, it was important to recognize that they were only into an internal contest.

Mr. George K. Huze, the Constituency Secretary, advised them to avoid anything likely to create confusion and cracks in the party.

The focus should see themselves as members of one family and work as a team not only to win the constituency seat but to significantly increase the NDC presidential candidate’s share of the popular votes in the area.
