Yam seller commits suicide

A 58 year- old woman, Hannah Nkrumah Boateng, popularly known as Aunte Ama, a yam seller at Koforidua Central market committed suicide in her room last Saturday morning.

A week before she committed the suicide, she was said to be complaining of a spirit hunting her for a debt she owe someone.

Information gathered by the Ghana News Agency from residents revealed that, the late Auntie Ama on November 7, woke up early morning and sent her 14 years old daughter to arrange the yams in the market for business start.

The deceased then entered her room and took a substance suspected to be poisonous and drank and was later found dead in her room.

A source at the Koforidua Central Police station confirmed the story and said the body had been deposited at the Koforidua Regional Hospital morgue for autopsy.
