Yakah elected NDC parliamentary candidate for New Edubiase

New Edubiase (Ash), June 9, GNA – Mr Ernest Kofi Yakah, 45 year-old Agriculturist, has been elected the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the New Edubiase. He polled 116 votes to beat two others, Mr Oheneba Kobena Andoh and Mr Yevenyo Zigga Kofie, who secured 70 and six votes, respectively in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission at New Edubiase on Tuesday.

Addressing the Constituency Delegates after the polls, Mr Yakah said he would lead the NDC to retain the area’s parliamentary seat, which it had held since 1992.

He called for total support and cooperation from all members and supporters, saying, “let us forge ahead in unity and avoid distractions”.

Mr William Aggrey, the NDC Deputy National Organiser, told the Party’s followers the task ahead of them was enormous and that “victory in the December polls would not come on a silver platter”. The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party, Mr Emmanuel Nti-Fordjour advised members of the Party in the area to bury their differences and focus on ways of widening the support base of the NDC. Mr Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, Regional Youth Organiser, called for vigilance to prevent cheating during the polls.

The Party’s sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Mrs Theresa Joyce Baffoe, who declined to seek re-election, thanked the Party for giving her the privilege to serve the people of the area and the nation for three consecutive terms.
