Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito says his side can overturn their first-leg defeat to Wydad Athletic Club when they travel to Morocco for the decisive CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash.
Kotoko suffered their first loss of the season after Joseph Bakasu’s 47th-minute strike handed Wydad a 1-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite the setback, Zito remains optimistic and urged fans to keep faith in the team.
“We’ve lost the first leg, but they can also lose there,” he said after the match. “There are certain situations in football that are not impossible but very difficult. We are now in a difficult situation, but not impossible, so fans should be patient.”
Kotoko have already shown resilience in this year’s competition, having beaten Nigeria’s Kwara United 1-0 away before progressing 5-3 on aggregate in the previous round.
With their hopes of advancement still alive, the Porcupine Warriors will now prepare for a tough trip to Morocco, believing they can hand Wydad a rare home defeat and secure passage to the next stage.
