Woyongo commissions sports facility in Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga Feb. 9, GNA – The Upper East Regional Minister, Mark Wioyongo on Tuesday commissioned a sport facility at the Bolgatanga sports Stadium with a call on the youth to make use of the facilities to improve on their sporting talents.

The facility comprises a volley and basket ball courts at a cost of $100,000 funded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Mr Woyongo, at the commissioning of the project said the courts, which were started in June last year were meant to promote sports activities and development in the Region.

He said that plans were far advanced to secure funds to establish lawn tennis and handball courts, which he noted were popular sports in the Region and needs the necessary support and facilities.

The Regional Minister said sporting activities promotes unity and friendship and therefore called on sportsmen and women in the Region to use sports to promote peace, inter-ethnic collaborat’
