World Vision marks 25th anniversary with workshop at Nadowli

Nadowli, July 29, GNA- World Vision International (WVI) has organised a two-day workshop for assemblymen and traditional rulers in the Nadowli District of the Upper West Region as one of the highlights of its 25th anniversary celebration this year.

The workshop brought together 400 participants including chiefs, “Tendamba” (landowners) and assembly members from all the ten area councils in the district, and it was aimed at capacity building in planning, implementation of policies, and sustaining development projects in the communities.

Mrs. Pauline Ninkpeng, Nadowli District Chief Executive, who addressed it, called for the active participation of non-governmental organisation (NGOs) in the nation’s development agenda because of the growing needs of increasing population.

She urged beneficiaries of projects to manage them properly in order to attract more assistance from private organisations. Mrs. Ninkpeng commended WVI for its numerous interventions in the district to improve the living conditions of the people.

Mr. Isaac Annang, Acting Area Development Programme Manager of WVI said meeting with the people in their operational areas to see how they could come together with WVI to plan their development activities, was one of the main objectives of the celebration.

He reminded the participants that politicians and bureaucrats could not plan their development programmes for them and that they as community leaders should always take the initiative.
