Daboase (W/R), July 31, GNA – World Vision, Ghana under its Area Development Project has adopted the Mpohor Wassa East District, one of the most deprived districts in the Western Region, for support. This brings to 20 the number of districts in the country and second in the region now benefiting from World Vision’s assistance in health, education, agriculture, water and sanitation and food security. Mr Herbert Brako, Coordinator of the Project, said World Vision’s determination to provide some of the basic needs of the people, especially those in deprived areas stemmed from the fact that the government alone could not meet all the needs of the people. He was addressing the opening session of a two-day World Vision sponsored information-sharing workshop at Daboase on Wednesday. Stakeholders in the area’s development including chiefs, assembly members, and representatives of the various religious groups as well as heads of private and public institutions are attending the workshop. They would discuss the status of development in the district; the results of a baseline study conducted by World Vision on the district and define roles and responsibilities of stakeholders for accelerated development. Mr Brako said World Vision would also offer assistance in the area of micro-enterprise development to create employment avenues for the youth.
Mr Edward Tawiah Amprofi, District Chief Executive, said it was reassuring that World Vision had decided to come to the aid of the people of the area to better their lots. He called on stakeholders to support World Vision to carry out its programmes.
