World Peace Volunteers express worry about NPP and NDC politics

Accra, Feb. 6, GNA -The World Peace Volunteers, has expressed dissatisfaction at the way leaders of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) are making the work of the organisation burdensome.

The organisation has the firm conviction that in the interest of peace and resonant democracy as well as the activities of political parties should be devoid of acts that can impact negatively on the peace the country is experiencing.

“As we move around the length and breadth of the country preaching peace and encouraging the masses to ensure a violence free election come December 2012, the two parties continue to use harsh and abusive words at each other, diminishing the confidence of people in the upcoming elections,” says Mr Seth Acheampong President of the organisation.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the President and copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra.

The statement said, the interim information from the Economic and Organise Crime Organisation could cause chaos in the country if the leadership of the two main political parties do not bridle their tongues and restrain themselves from acts that could lead to violence.

It said, the police have a great mission in the turn of events, following the arrest of Mr Alfred Agbesi Woyome, brain behind judgement debt

The statement said Judging from the way both parties are throwing accusations at each other for the loss caused to the state, the police, which is the only mediator in the case, must observe their duties professionally, to forestall any insurgence, it added.

World Peace Volunteers is a non political civil society organisation aimed at promoting world peace, rule of law and promoting democracy
