WORLD FOOD DAY AT NAVRONGO

The Kassena Nankana District Chief Executive, Miss Clothilda Amega-Etego, has said the current restructuring exercise being undertaken by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture is to provide infrastructure that will speed up the development of human resources to boost food production. She was speaking at this year’s World Food Day of the Upper East Region in Navrongo, Mrs.. Amega-Etego noted that under the Vision 2020 document, the agricultural sector is expected to play a major role in the quest for national economic emancipation. The Upper East Acting Regional Director Mr.. Roy Ayariga, said the Ministry has prepared an early warning report on the food situation and indications are that the region will experience a short fall of 14 thousand metric tons of grains this year. He said the region has a comparative advantage in irrigated agriculture as against rain-fed agriculture. End
