Workshop on human rights opens in Takoradi

Takoradi, July 30, GNA – A two-day workshop on human rights for journalists in Sekondi-Takoradi opened in Takoradi on Monday. It is being organised by the Canada based Journalists for Human Rights (JHR).

Speaking at the workshop Ms Renee Bernard, a JHR’s trainer, said the course was to improve the skills of the participants to enable them report effectively on human rights issues. She told the participants to decipher human rights issues in news items and highlight them for the benefit of affected persons who have no avenue of having their voices heard. Ms Bernard said, “Everyday occurrences could be human rights issues, be proactive and seek out these issues”. 30 July 07
