Workshop On Counselling Ends In Sandema

Sandema (U/E), June 24, – A day’s workshop on ”guidance and counselling in schools” organised by the Ghana Education Service and sponsored by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has ended in Sandema. The 75 participants selected from teachers of primary and junior secondary schools in the Builsa district of the upper east region were taught how to guide and counsel pupils and students. They were also taught methods for reducing the school drop-out rate, plan, implement and co-ordinate guidance and counselling services in their schools. Addressing the participants, the district director of education, Mr Jacob Ibn Asigiri, asked teachers to show personal interest in their students. He said teachers have a great influence on their students and appealed to them to lead exemplary lives. Mr Asigiri said the workshop formed part of GES’s continued effort to equip teachers with specialised skills to enable them to perform creditably.
