Workshop on adolescent Reproduction opens at Winneba.

Winneba (C/R) June 27, GNA- Plan Ghana is organising a ten-day Capacity Building Workshop on Adolescent Reproduction Health for 34 nurses selected from Government Health facilities in the Central Region, at Winneba.

Participants were from the Gomoa, the Awutu-Effutu-Senya the Mfantseman districts.

A seven member Reproductive Health Team were taking the participants through topics including, introduction to counselling, personal qualities of a counsellor, risk associated with adolescent pregnancy and child bearing and sexually transmitted infections. Madam Gloria Obeng-Amoako, the Health Advisor to Plan Ghana, advised participants to take the workshop seriously to enable it achieve its aims and objective.

She said the adolescents need proper care and guidance to enable them to overcome challenges.

Madam Obeng-Amoako said the youth need to be counselled and educated properly so that they could become responsible persons in the society. He advised the participants to intensify their sensitisation and counselling activities after their training to make the health facilities adolescent friendly.
