Working out should not be gendered – Gym instructor

A gym instructor at the Pippa’s Health Centre in Osu, Maxwell Daako Djan, has urged women to take a keen interest in keeping fit and patronize gyms more often.

It is lazy women who do not exercise and bemoaned the labelling of exercising as “a man’s thing”.

“The idea that it is normal for men to exercise and not women is backward thinking. It is about time the Ghanaian woman corrected this misconception. The health of every sex is important,” he said.

He also urged both sexes to see the gym as a barrier between themselves and the doctor, indicating that there will be no need to see a health personnel if one was fit and healthy.

“But for the crave for flat tummies and having nice curves, few women visit the gym. It is only a few that will visit the gym for a holistic workout,” he bemoaned.

Mr Daako Djan further advised that “working out should be parallel with healthy living, especially watching the kind of food we ingest.”
