Workers urged to take up insurance policies

Damongo (N/R), May 30, GNA – Mr Fawei Issifu, an administrator of the West Gonja District Assembly has urged workers in the informal sector to take up insurance policies to safeguard their lives and those of their families.

He said monies invested in insurance policies would be more secure and also attract interest instead of keeping the monies at home where they risk being stolen or burnt by fire. Mr Issifu was speaking at a ceremony where Star Assurance Company Limited presented a cheque for 10 million cedis by Star Assurance Company Limited to the bereaved family of the late Mr. Anaba Zato Daniel, an educationist, at Damongo on Friday.

The late Mr Daniel held the “cash builder policy” of the company, as well as its “personal accident rider” until his death. Mr Yakubu Jude Abdallah, Northern Regional Branch Manager of Star Assurance, said the company had made it a policy to honour all its obligations so far as the terms and conditions of contract of its products are met.

He said the company had as at January this year, paid 85,000,000 cedis as death claims to the bereaved families of its policyholders. 30 May 04
